(contemporary binding) FIRST EDITION, providing a complete history of Germany from the Year of Rome 648 to 1740. It is illustrated with a frontispiece engraved by Le Bas after Caze, a portrait of Frederick Augustus III engraved by Daullé after Silvestre, 3 fold-out maps, 11 title vignettes engraved by Le Bas after Eisen, and numerous vignettes and tailpieces. Minor flaws. Provenance: Gabriel Cramer (armorial bookplate), a mathematician from Geneva (1704–1752).
