In-4° in havana morocco, covers decorated with two large gilt designs, gilt fillet on the inside, lining in morocco of the same shade, havana moiré endpapers, gilt edges on endpapers, covers and spine, edged slipcase (G. Cretté – [Jean Bernard]).
A print run of 160 numbered copies on Montval laid paper, the typeface for which was set in ‘Augustal’ type from the Louis Perrin printing house, a 19th-century proto-typographer from Lyon.
The illustrations comprise 95 black etchings, including 30 full-page plates and 65 vignettes by Jean Bernard. This copy is enhanced by a LARGE ORIGINAL INK DRAWING signed by the artist.
A SPECTACULAR DOUBLE-BOUND EDITION by Jean Bernard, who entrusted its production to Georges Cretté. A very fine copy.
