BURETTE (Pierre Jean). CATALOGUE OF THE LIBRARY of the late Mr Burette, physician at the Faculty of Medicine in Paris, member of the Royal Academy of Belles-Lettres and Dean of the Royal Professors. Paris, G. Martin, 1748. 3 in-12 volumes, pp. 32–459; [2]–461 to 841; [2]–843 to 1205–[30] pages, light calfskin, triple gilt fillet on the covers, decorated ribbed spine (contemporary binding). Compiled by Burette himself, the catalogue of his library, comprising 10,191 items, is preceded by a memoir on his life and works and concludes with an index of books for the Dauphin’s use and those printed by the Elzeviers, a comprehensive table of authors cited, the catalogue of books on sale at Gabriel Martin’s, and finally the catalogue of folio books by M. Boyer d’Eguilles (281 items). Minor, insignificant flaws on two headbands; otherwise a good copy with all prices handwritten in the margins.
