DANTE – DALI. THE DIVINE COMEDY. HELL – PURGATORY – PARADISE. Paris, Les Heures Claires, 1959–1963. 6 folio volumes, loose sheets in the publisher’s folders and cases. A famous edition illustrated by Salvador Dalí, which took 55 months to complete and required nearly 3,500 woodcuts to produce the 100 watercolours that adorn it. Printed in a run of 4,765 copies; this is one of the 3,900 numbered copies on pure Rives rag paper (no. 1296). A few pages are stitched, but otherwise a fine copy.
