PARADIS DE MONCRIF (F.A.). ESSAYS ON THE NECESSITY AND MEANS OF PLEASING. Paris, Prault, 1738. In-8, 16-191-104-[8] pages, light calfskin, decorated ribbed spine, gilt edges (contemporary binding). Allegorical frontispiece by Trémollière. Moncrif (1687–1770) was the official reader to Marie Leczinska and the Dauphine. A copy printed on large-size paper in 8vo format; this is the second edition, published in the same year as the original. Split joints, worn corners. (Barbier II, 280).
