The authenticity of this drawing has been confirmed by Mr Pierre SANCHEZ, to whom we extend our thanks.
He is the author of the catalogue raisonné of Horace Vernet’s lithographs: ‘Pierre Sanchez, Horace Vernet: Draughtsman and Lithographer 1818–1838 – Catalogue Raisonné” of his lithographic work, Dijon, 2016.
He explains: “This well-executed drawing is indeed by the hand of Horace Vernet; the signature is consistent and the style clearly confirms this. And this drawing, in my view, can perhaps be dated to the years 1820–1825”, in his letter to the firm dated 15 July.
