First collective edition in French combining Apian's Cosmography, additions by Gemma Frison and texts relating to America by Lopez de Gomara and Girava.
The work is illustrated with numerous remarkable woodcuts in the text, 4 volvelles (out of 5, one of which is incomplete by a piece), the preface leaves are awkwardly restored with 1 leaf missing and many pages missing. (21 and 22, 35 to 48, 205 to 220).
The superb out-of-text folding map "Charte cosmographique des vents" is however present and in good condition (USTC 1847).
Attached is an incomplete copy (75 of 132 leaves) of BELON DU MANS' book: Portraits d'oyseaux... P., Cavellat 1557. In-4° vellum, unbound.
