Binet-Valmer – *Les esprits de ténèbres* – Autograph dedication signed by the author’s wife, dated December 1941, ‘in memoriam’. Enclosed is a handwritten letter from Binet-Valmer, signed and dated July 1926, in which he writes, amongst other things: ‘I am compelled to testify in favour of Charles Maurras at his trial before the 10th Chamber. I am due to give evidence on Thursday the 15th. Before I do so, I would like to see you…’. Flammarion, 1940. 12mo paperback in fair condition. Jean-Auguste-Gustave Binet, known as Binet-Valmer, 1875–1940, was a Franco-Swiss writer, active in right-wing veterans’ circles in the 1920s. He became a naturalised French citizen in 1914 in order to take part in the Great War, in which he became a hero.
