Rêve d'il en fût jamais - London [Paris] ; Sans nom, 1775 - 1 volume In-12° - 1 angular halo on the first 33 leaves then on the last 8, 1 very small worm hole at the head of a pin turning into a gallery with some loss of words or letters on 9 leaves - Bound in marbled havana basane (lower part of the 2 covers with halo) - Spine ribbed and decorated - Brown morocco title - Red edges - First published in 1770, This utopia predicted what life in Paris would be like in the twenty-fifth century, in the spirit of Enlightenment philosophy, announcing the end of the temporal power of the popes, the abolition of monks, the cremation of corpses, and aerostats flying to Peking in 7 days, among other things. The author considered himself "the true prophet of the Revolution".
