[NATURAL HISTORY] - BONNET (Charles) - Works on Natural History and Philosophy - Neuchâtel; Samuel Fauche, 1779–1783 - 18 volumes, 8vo - Frontispiece portrait, 2 fold-out plates and 55 engraved fold-out plates (complete) - Contemporary marbled fawn calfskin binding (some scuffing and minor leather loss on the covers, a few small tears at certain joints) - Spined with decorative raised bands (minor imperfections to some of the cap bands) - Title and volume number labels in havana morocco - Red edges - A fine copy. Charles Bonnet (1720–1793) was one of the greatest naturalists of the 18th century. He is regarded as one of the founding fathers of modern biology. His various works are all characterised by innovation and present the results of in-depth experimental research. As for his philosophy, it exerted a considerable influence on the naturalists of his time.
