Collection of documents on or about Étienne Dinet, typescripts or small handwritten items.
Étienne Dinet (1861-1929), a French Orientalist painter trained at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, devoted most of his work to Algeria, depicting its landscapes and daily life with talent and a keen eye for observation. Settling in Bou Saâda, he converted to Islam under the name Nasreddine Dinet and made the hajj to Mecca in 1929. Marked by the Maghreb world, his artistic work occupies a singular place in French Orientalism at the turn of the 20th century.
