signed and dated 19 July 1903, at St Thibault des Vignes (last ff.).
Large format in-4 (21 x 31.5 cm), 297 handwritten pages and 2
blank (some pages cut off), sewn into 13 ruled quires with margins left
blank.
Written by 4 hands, it bears 2 different handwritings, in brown ink on the recto of each folio, all under a cover.
All in a green half cloth folder with hardback covers. Approximately 35 lines of text per page. Chapter XXIX, in Roman capitals, title page with name and address "98 boulevard Rochechouart, Paris".
Text apparently intended for a publisher and unpublished according to our research.
The name Maupassant is not that of the famous writer.
With penciled-out passages, cross-outs, papers pasted on to correct the text, sometimes on the back to fill the gap in the text that had been
removed. Some pages cut and tabs glued.
Some modern handwritten annotations partially erased on the first
cover. "To the title page". Ex libris stamp "Henry Le Besnerais".
Sometimes annotations "X à la ligne" in pencil in the margins. Some traces of oxidized glue and ink.
