Description
MILITARIA.
Artillery Course. 1876.
Manuscript notebook of 38 bound leaves including 2 blank leaves, paper cover. Square in-8 format. Grey paper cover.
Contains notes taken by a soldier of three artillery courses given in 1876 by two captains and a colonel (Captain Lachèns and Jouffrey, Colonel Astier). The notes contain calculations, a few equations and angles.
The drawings are used by the author to illustrate the different firing mechanisms that existed in England, Italy, Germany and Austria.
Composed of three parts. The first explains the profiling of gun chambers for the sliding of projectiles. The second deals with foreign artillery, describing the projectiles, their configuration and the activation of their mechanisms. The last part explains the elements used in battle, such as chivalry, sabres, swords and bayonets. This last section also explains the weapons of France, with gun chambers and how they work.
Some leaves are marked with the lesson number at the top of the page, which indicates that the notes were taken in a military school during the first half of 1876.
