In them he thanks his interlocutor for an article about him: "In your charming and benevolent article of 1 April on the Sikhs, you said something that touched me deeply because it is true [...]". He wishes to meet his interlocutor again: "I was very annoyed not to find you at home when you took the trouble to drop by [...]".
With 2 MS poems by Barbier: -One, in his own hand, in 12 alexandrines "La Mort planant sur toi comme un heureux amant...", s.l.n.d [1841] - one MS copied from Barbier's poem. Copy of "Cimarosa". 1/2 p in-8.

-A small envelope with mourning slip addressed to "Monsieur Armand Dayot / 8 boulevard Flandrin".
-Facsimile of a poem in cursive in violet ink by Emmanuel des Essarts, a teacher in Avignon. It was he who introduced Mallarmé to the Felibre of his poem composed in 1905 for the centenary of Auguste Barbier.
