Description
Jules LEVY (1857-1935).
Set of 3 P.A.S.
-2 L.A.S. addressed to Emile DRAIN (1890-1966) "Le Napoléon de l'écran" who notably played the Emperor for Sacha Guitry...a great performer who was also an author and poet. 2 pp., envelopes with addresses and stamps, 1926 and 1927. One on the letterhead of the Syndicat des Gens de Lettres, a very pretty and rather literary letter of thanks. Villers S/ Marne, 1927.
The other is addressed to Drain and Levy's friendship with the work and person of Maurice Rollinat, the poet, musician and performer who died in 1903. An 'association' was set up to pay tribute to him, which still exists today. Levy thanking Drain and his wife for taking part in the unveiling of the poet's plaque in Chateauroux. He mentions the organisation and Drain's wife, and would like Drain to come and have a chat with him.
-CDV with address of Jules LEVY as Secretary of the Union. Anecdotal stains or folding defects.
