Description
Pierre MILLE (1864-1941) French writer and journalist.
Lot of 3 L.A.S.
Various formats, including one on blue paper with stamp and address, 27 May 1911, a letter with mourning border, 21 June 1912 and a CDV, 2 March 1932. Despite their distance in time (1912 and 1932), two of the autographs are addressed to the same person, a "dear Master", and are praises mixed with reflections on writing or the difficulty of writing for an author. Perhaps the recipient of the 1911 letters was Léon Hennique (1850-1935), a French naturalist novelist, playwright and screenwriter born in Guadeloupe, and a friend of Maupassant and the Goncourts. Mille's name is still attached to the Pierre Mille Prize for the best report, awarded by the French Overseas Press Union to a French-speaking print or broadcast journalist.
