Description
SAVOIE, Emmanuel Ier, Duc de (1562-1630). Duke of Savoy and Prince of Piedmont. L.S. or later copy, to Francisco Villa. Turin, 28 February 1605. 1 pp. small folio. Address, armorial seal under paper. Written in Italian. Charles-Emmanuel I signs this letter referring to an epidemic of "febre maligna" and announcing the death of his son Philippe-Emmanuel (1585-1605). He was Duke of Savoy and Prince of Piedmont from 1580 to 1630, and was also a descendant of François I through his mother, Marguerite de France, the last daughter of the King of France. 17th century manuscript.
