First edition. This devotional treatise inspired by the spirituality of Saint François de Sales, on the interior life and the practice of Christian perfection, was reprinted only once, in 1672.
Augustin Alippe de la Vierge-Marie was a Discalced Brother in Lyon.
Saint François de Sales (1567-1622), Prince-Bishop of Geneva and recognised Doctor of the Church, was the founder of the Visitation Sainte-Marie.
