First edition illustrated with 3 vignettes at the head engraved on copper in black by Chedel and 12 folding engravings, also on copper in black.
Pierre Bouguer (1698-1758), French mathematician and hydrographer, member of the Académie des Sciences, remained famous for his work on navigation, optics and measuring the shape of the Earth.
