First edition of this important description of Piedmont at the beginning of the 19th century by Jean-Baptiste Joseph Breton de la Martinière, an anthropologist under the Consulate at the time, who gives an account of the political, military, social and cultural situation in which Piedmont found itself following its annexation by France under Bonaparte.
