In-4, frontispiece, XLIV (without p. I-II) -48-XXIX pp. and pp. 51-484, 24 plates (including pl. 8 and 9 on the same sheet). Contemporary marbled calf, spine ribbed and decorated, red morocco title-piece, decorated boxes, red edges (binding rubbed, head cap torn off, leaves slightly oxidised, marginal spotting on some pages).
Second edition, partly original, of this work on naval architecture and construction by Duhamel du Monceau, revised, corrected and enlarged.
It consists of 42 preliminary leaves including the title page illustrated with a vignette, the dedication and the preface, 484 pages of text with XXIX pages of alphabetical table (title of the table paginated 49 and the first page of the table paginated II, resuming the pagination at 51).
Illustrated with a frontispiece engraved by Chedel after Ozanne, 11 vignettes at the head of each chapter engraved mainly after N. Ozanne and 24 copper-engraved folding plates (plates 8 and 9 on a single folding leaf) showing sections and plans of vessels.
