LEREBOURS, Noël-Marie Paymal.Description des microscopes achromatiques simplifiés par P. N. Lerebours, fabricant d'instruments d'optique, de physique, de mathématiques et de marine. Second edition. Paris, Chez N.-P. Lerebours, (1841). [11]-84-[3] pp. with one folding plate and [4] pp. subscription form. Paperback in-8, cover printed on yellow paper (some foxing but a good, well preserved copy). One line-engraved plate by Petitcolin after Médard and an "advertisement" for Stanhope microscopes, decorated with a woodcut signed by the author (a drop of water through a microscope). With a subscription for "Excursions Daguerriennes, 2 ff., collection of 50 plates representing the most remarkable views and monuments of the globe" extolling the novelty and accuracy of the daguerreotype just a few years after the first images were taken around 1830. Lerebours (1807-1873) was an optician and daguerreotypist from a family specialising in optical tools. His achromatic microscopes are still sought after by collectors. Ex dono by the author in pen on the cover, given to the Société des Sciences Naturelles de Seine et Oise.
