Second edition of the French translation of Isaac Newton's (1642-1727) Treatise on Optics by Pierre Coste (1668-1747) and the first in quarto format. The illustration consists of 12 copper-engraved folding plates and a copper-engraved vignette by Herisset after Chaufourier repeated at the head of each part. The text is decorated with beautiful copper-engraved lettering.
