Description
RAYMOND, M. [BRUCKER, R.]. The Temple of Friendship. Poem in four songs, and in heroic verse, dedicated to Madame Zoé de Ghyka, née Rossetti. A work perhaps suitable for everyone, with four epigraphs, by Mr Raymond [pseud.], pensioned officer, retired from the Armies of His Majesty the Emperor of Austria, etc., etc., etc. Leipsic, at the author's expense, printed by Breitkopf and Härtel, 1819. Small in-8, XXXVI-203-(1)-XVI pp. contemporary fawn basane with gilt iron with lyre on the boards and repeated on the spine (binding rubbed, spine partially unbound, numerous handwritten annotations from the period, "Pot aux Roses" written in ink on the first board, a few stains and spotting). Curious copy in its contemporary binding. Only one copy in the CCFr (BnF). Heavily annotated in brown ink at the time, perhaps by the author himself, with many erasures and ironic annotations, sometimes what appear to be corrections to the text. Verses preceded by a Discourse containing some necessary observations on this work, a glance at education, and a few other things...
