Les Contes et discours d'Eutrapel. Par le feu Seigneur de la Herissaye, Gentil-homme Breton A Rennes, pour Noël Glamet, de Quimpercorentin, 1585. In-8, [1 (of 2)]-223 [poorly chif. for 219]-[1] f. [sign. []1, A-Dd8, Ee4], brown pastiche basane, 5-nerved spine, red title-piece, ornate compartments, double gilt fillet to covers, gilt edges (rubbing, upper bit cracked; traces on title of an old sign. to v°, traces of old pen in margin of q. pages, faint angular mottling on q. f.., hole affecting q. letters f.e.), hole in some letters on f.90, light stain on f.134-5, soiling on f.159 and 216; table leaf lacking). Rare first edition of this facetious collection, printed in Paris by Jean Richer under the fictitious address of N. Glamet in Rennes. At the foot of the title, in 16th-century handwriting, a motto "Bene notus per bonus" could indicate a contemporary owner.
