P.S. ‘Artaignan’ with two handwritten lines, Ghent, 25 September 1708; 1 page, oblong, small quarto (tears at the folds and one frayed edge), red wax seal bearing the coat of arms.

Permission granted to ‘Jean Fuchet, known as Reine, a soldier in Mongin’s Company, to go to the Hôtel Royal des Invalides, having had his finger severed by a musket shot at the Battle of Oudenaarde’. The leave was signed in Ghent on 6 September by Lieutenant-Colonel de NADAILLAC, commander of the Boufflers Regiment. Marshal d’Artagnan approved: ‘approved for the invalids in Flanders, done on 25 September 1708 ”. On the same day, a note from BUEIL SANCERRE sent it to Tournai.
