A fine letter to the brother of Agostino Adorno, Governor of Genoa, on behalf of the Duke of Milan, Lodovico SFORZA, following the French withdrawal from the Kingdom of Naples. He is sending his trusted personal cupbearer, Antoine Escorcefic, ‘to the court in Rome’ ‘for certain matters which greatly concern us and which we wish to be dealt with favourably, as we are now writing to the Governor of Genoa, your brother, and the city’s elders’. He asks his friend to place his cupbearer “under special recommendation regarding these matters and in case he may require a safe-conduct or letters of safe passage” with his brother and the Elders, ‘and furthermore, that you lend him your full support in securing the return of a house of his which is being wrongfully and unjustly withheld from him’…
