Description
Édith Piaf (1915–1963).
Autograph letter signed ‘Edith Piaf’, [circa 1938–1939], to a friend who was an arranger; 1 page, quarto size, on letterhead from the dressmaker Kostio de War.
Whilst visiting Paris, she asks him to prepare for her ‘the version of *Un Jeune homme chantait en anglais* and a score of *Tout fout le camp* (the full version)’…
Enclosed are musical manuscripts of songs (voice and piano), with lyrics by Raymond Asso: *Tout fout le camp* (with André Bourgeois’s stamp), *Le Fanion de la Légion* (with orchestral parts, Pierre Saaorborg’s stamps); and two others, either photocopied or printed: *Le Lapin et les chameaux* (2 versions), *Les Marins ça fait des voyages*. Plus three printed songs, and the programme for the New York Symphony Orchestra’s European tour from 2 May to 4 June 1930, conducted by Toscanini.
