Signac’, Paris, 13 January 1931, to the Secretary-General of Progrès Civique; 1 page, in-8 format, on letterhead of the Société des Artistes Indépendants, in a stamped envelope. Note: He was asked for his opinion on the role of cinema. ‘For the time being, I stand by this: We must, by every possible means, protest against the ignominy of contemporary cinema, imposed by American financiers and supported by the French press—which has been lavishly bribed—and which contributes to debasing the taste and intelligence of our race.
