Second edition of one of the most important treatises on hunting and the art of the hunt from the 17th century, by Robert de Salnove (1597–1670), ordinary councillor to the King’s Household, lieutenant in the Grand Wolf Hunt of France and equerry to Christine of France, Duchess of Savoy.
Comprises four parts on the hunting of stag, hare, roe deer, wild boar, wolf and fox. Followed by an alphabetical index of the forests of France mentioned in the work and a ‘Dictionary of Hunters’ at the end.
An edition adorned with a beautiful frontispiece title page engraved in black on copper, along with several vignettes at the beginning of chapters and initial letters.
