New Hours drawn from Holy Scripture. Written and engraved by Senault.

Small 8vo, (1)-260 pp., on laid paper. Contemporary bistre morocco, ribbed spine decorated with a dotted gold title, gilt edges, wide gilt lace border on the covers, 6 (later) coloured silk bookmarks bound with tassels of gold cannetille braid (tarnished), orange silk endpapers (some wear to the bookmarks, some minor rubbing; the copy may have been rebound). A handwritten sheet bound after the upper endpaper, commenting on the work (19th century).
An old engraved bookseller’s label, Théodore de Hansy (Paris), depicting the interior of a bookshop of the period and various symbols (bound at the top).

A superb work, entirely drawn and engraved on copper with a burin by Louis Senault, a master French writer and engraver (1630–c. 1680).
Printed on laid paper and adorned with engravings outside the text.
