Description:
A fine, very well-written manuscript ‘by Monsieur Seguin’, which was undoubtedly intended to serve as a kind of annual financial statement.
The title page is framed and calligraphically inscribed with the full coat of arms (featuring cannons) of the Duke of Chartres, Louis-Philippe d’Orléans (1747–1793), known as Philippe Égalité, great-great-grandson of Louis XIII, of the House of Orléans.
Highly interesting and informative detailed accounts and inventories, with precise figures and names, presented in tables, with calligraphic headings, all in fine, precise and legible handwriting in sepia ink.
Covering his stables and horses in Paris, Saint-Cloud, Saint-Germain, Versailles and ‘for the Arquebuse’, with pages on various types of supplies, including medicines, and extraordinary expenses…
