Several hundred plates, some fold-out, engraved in black.
They depict the costumes of various monastic, religious and military orders, sometimes including their decorations, engraved by Duclos, Giffart, de Poilly and Thomassin.
This work was the most comprehensive on the subject at the time.
Hélyot died in 1716; the last three volumes of his work were published posthumously.
Attractive typographical mark featuring Coignard’s numeral and motto on the title pages.
