Bibliography: Brunet, III, 205. Description: First edition of the first 10 volumes of this ‘very important work’. ‘The 12 volumes published by the Benedictines are no longer easily found; the 12th volume in particular had become rare; but it was reprinted in 1830…’ (Brunet). A vast publication constituting a first-rate source of historical and literary scholarship, the fruit of the labour of a group of Benedictine monks from the Congregation of Saint-Maur.
