4 volumes in in-12 format. Titles in red and black, frontispieces. Marbled fawn half-basane with small corners of the period, plain spine underlined with gilt fillets, oval volume number label and red morocco label with gilt title, blue laid paper endpapers (Some wear to the binding due to use (spine), worn corners, a few pinholes).

Illustrated with 3 frontispieces engraved in black after Eisen.
There are several editions and counterfeits of *Emile* from 1762. According to Tchemerzine, the first edition, in in-12 or in-8 format, although bearing the address of Néaulme in Amsterdam, was printed in Paris for Duchesne.
