A finely lithographed black-and-white bust portrait, signed ‘Alophe’, by Formentin & Cie.
The young Henri Mondeux, born on 22 June 1826 in Neuvy-le-Roi and died on 29 January 1861 near Auch, was a mathematical prodigy who caused a sensation in his day.
With a handwritten dedication in ink by Henri Mondeux himself: ‘With affectionate regards to Monsieur D’Houdetot / Henri Mondeux’.
