DUMAS, Alexandre. LYNCH. The Lady of the Camellias. Paris, Maison Quantin, (1887). Large quarto, (3) folios including title-frontispiece, IV–XIV–(1)–247 pp., title in red and black, plates. Contemporary green half-morocco with corners, plain spine richly decorated, author’s name, title and date in gold, double gilt line on the covers, gilt edges, original endpapers preserved [Moralès Poitiers] (minor scuffing on the upper joint and corners). Description: A very fine copy with wide margins in a lovely signed morocco binding. New illustrated first edition featuring numerous illustrations by Albert Lynch, including a colour etching frontispiece by Gaujean and a portrait on the title page, also etched in black by Gaujean; 10 etchings by Massé or Champollion and a vignette at the head of each chapter, heliogravure-etched by Dumont and printed in intaglio with varied tones. Printed on heavy vellum. This copy features two printings on different paper: the title-frontispiece is printed in black and shades of red.
