Red morocco, spine with raised ribs, author’s name, title and date in gold, framing of multiple gold fillets on the panels, front and back covers, double gold fillet on the headbands and footbands, multiple gold fillets on the endpapers, original cover preserved [Chambolle-Duru]. The illustrations comprise a frontispiece portrait of the author, engraved by Léon Boisson after Deveria, and 15 compositions by A. Michelena, including one plate, a header vignette and a footer vignette for each act. Printed in an edition of 500 copies, including 150 special editions on Japanese paper or Marais vellum; this copy is no. 25, on Japanese paper. Engravings accompanied by two black-and-white prefaces. -HERNANI, a drama in five acts. Paris, L. Conquet, 1890. Large 8vo.
