Blue morocco, spine with raised dotted raised bands, title, author, place and date in gold lettering, richly decorated panels, double gilt line on the headbands and footbands, triple gilt line framing the covers, gilt scrolls and lines on the endpapers, gilt edges [Chambolle-Duru] (marginal foxing on some leaves).

The illustrations consist of a portrait of Loti on the frontispiece, six plates, a vignette at the head of the text and a tailpiece, all engraved by G. Manchon after the delicate illustrations by Paul Léon Jazet.
Engravings accompanied by two pre-letter sequences.
Limited edition of 235 copies; this is no. 9.
This copy is enhanced by a watercolour by Jazet, signed and dated 1888 on the half-title page, along with a dedication from the author, signed and dated 1915:
“To Mr G. Loche, thanking him for having bound my books with such luxury and good taste…”; and a postcard with a signed dedication from the author.
