In-12, (3) leaves including frontispiece, 83 pp. Contemporary cream vellum Bradel binding, author’s name, title and date calligraphied in blue on the spine with red ornamentation, original cover preserved, in marbled slipcase with vellum bias binding [Carayon] (a few very slight pinholes on the covers, small foxing spots on the endpapers).
Description:
First separate edition and first print run of the author’s illustrations, comprising a frontispiece and in-text vignettes lithographed in bistre.
A remarkable work of speculative fiction set in 1954, which appeared in instalments in *La Vie électrique* in 1890.
Limited edition of 100 copies on Japanese paper and 200 on Chinese paper.
One of the 200 non-commercial copies on China paper. This copy was presented to Mr G. Loche, with a dedication and signed in blue pencil by the publisher.
Lithographs accompanied by a suite on China paper in black, a precursor to the technique.
This copy is enhanced by a lovely futuristic watercolour in colour signed by Robida and a separate print of the front cover.
