(Paris, Cazin, c. 1793). 2 volumes in in-18 format, (3) folios, including a frontispiece, 218 pp. and (2) folios, 180 pp. Burnt-orange morocco, spine with decorated raised bands, title labels in havana brown and volume numbers in blue, place and date stamped at the foot of the spine, compartments decorated with gilt metalwork and gilt fillets, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, lace on the headbands, in a marbled slipcase [Chambolle-Duru] (plates uniformly slightly oxidised). Bibliography: Brissart-Bonet, Cazin, 83. Cohen, 1032–1033. Description: A charming edition illustrated by Duplessis-Bertaux with a frontispiece and 21 vignettes at the head of each chapter, bound in an elegant small morocco leather binding. A limited-edition reprint produced around 1870 of the 1780 Cazin edition, here on tinted laid paper, with the plates on vellum. Finely illustrated with 21 half-page vignettes by Marillier, engraved in black by Duflos, as well as an unsigned frontispiece on heavy paper, also by Marillier. A copy filled with black copperplate engravings, free or very free in style, opposite the frontispiece, and 18 unsigned erotic plates engraved on copper. CURIOSA.
