In-12, (2) ff., 309 pp. Contemporary Bradel lemon-coloured half-maroquin binding with corners, title and author’s name gilt on the spine, original cover preserved [Carayon] (a few very slight foxing spots). Note: A “fairly rare” volume (Clouzot). The story of an adulterous affair leading to murder, then madness and suicide, *Thérèse Raquin* is a naturalist novel exploring passions and the influence of one’s social environment and heredity. In an elegant morocco binding by Carayon. First edition for which no large-format copies were printed; cover dated 1867 as indicated by Clouzot (title page dated 1868).
