NAPOLEON III (1808–1873). Autograph letter signed ‘Napoleon’, W[ilhelmshöhe], 11 December [1870], to Marianne WALEWSKA; 1 page, in-8 format, bearing the crowned ‘N’. Description: Letter from the prisoner to his former mistress. The letter will be delivered to her by Mr LEVERT, former Prefect of Marseille, ‘a most devoted and distinguished man’. He is to discuss with you the steps that need to be taken with General CHANGARNIER to ensure he remains supportive of my cause.
