Description
CESIO (Carlo): Gallery in the Farnese Palace in Rome of His Serene Highness the Duke of Parma, etc… Painted by Annibale Caracci, engraved by Carlo Cesio. Rome, Venanzio Monaldini al Corso, undated. Folio, old half-calf (worn caps, worn and damaged cardboard covers, worm-eaten margins on the first 8 leaves, summarily repaired, some plates loose). Title page, portrait and 34 plates (out of 44), some of which are fold-outs. A collection of engravings based on the work of Annibale CARRACCI (1560–1609) at the Farnese Palace, engraved by Carlo CESIO (1626–1686). The original collection, engraved by COLLIGNON, dates from 1657. Following his death in 1687, the Dutchman Arnold van WESTERHOUT republished it until 1725, replacing his name at the bottom of the engravings.
