CHARPENTIER (F.): *Le Voyage du vallon tranquille*. A historical novella. New edition, with a preface and notes serving as a key. Paris, 1796. 12mo, 19th-century grey half-calf, plain spine with decoration. The first edition of this satirical account was first published in 1673 under the pseudonym (Ergaste). The Academician François Charpentier (1620–1702) departs here from his usual works to recount, in an entertaining manner, a stay at the Château de Nancré, then owned by the Councillor of State Hotman.In this limited edition printed on vellum paper, the frontispiece is by Adry and Mercier de Saint-Léger. A fine copy.
