Description
CICERON. Opera omnia quae extant S.l. [Genève], [Guillaume de Laimarie pour les] Héritiers d'Eustache Vignon, 1594 [February 1594]. Large volume in-8 in fawn Russian leather, double gilt fillet and cold roulette, spine decorated, marbled edges (Binding circa 1820). Very rare edition printed in tiny type on nearly 2250 columns, given by the scholar Denis Lambin (cf. GLN-3702: only 3 copies listed in public collections). Title set in an attractive wood-engraved frame known as the Justice frame. Old handwritten bookplate, almost faded, on verso of title. Storage label Ex-libris Marini. Last leaf missing (blank?). Worm gallery in the lower corner of the first 20 leaves, affecting the text. Angular staining. Top box and top of first cover discoloured. Joints split.
