PRÉVOST (Abbé). Histoire générale des voyages. Paris, Didot ; Lausanne, Bousquet, 1746-1770. 19 volumes in-4, half blond speckled basane with corners, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets, speckled edges (Binding circa 1800). First edition of this famous and important travel encyclopaedia. (Sabin, n°65402.) Portrait of the author and 583 (out of 585) maps and plates. A pleasant copy. Ex-libris Ludovici Zeerleder. Without volume XX, as often, which appeared in year X (1801-1802). The prospectus for volume I is missing. Most of the notices to the bookbinder have not been preserved. Some leaves and plates foxed, some sections yellowed, large map torn. Minor rubbing to the binding.
