[CHATEAUBRIAND] – DANIELO, J[ulien Marie] (1802–1866). Man of letters, former secretary to François-René de Chateaubriand. Autograph letter addressed to ‘Monseigneur’, Paris, 9 October 1830, 3 pp., in-8°. He offers a ‘short piece which the editors of M. de Chateaubriand’s Memoirs asked of him to complete the final volume. (A short chapter had been added to the first edition of the *Mémoires d’Outre-tombe*: ‘The Conversations of M. de Chateaubriand’ (Volume XII)). He was unable to find the documents at the archbishop’s palace concerning Marie-Thérèse which Madame de Chateaubriand had told him about. He now hopes to teach ‘a course in high literature, or philosophy, or history at an educational institution that would be under your patronage…’
