No. 1 is preferred, but with very precise instructions for modifications, set out in five points. Letter, Solesmes Abbey, 17 January 1859, 1½ pp., in-8°. He is posting ‘the emerald and the diamonds which we intend to place in a prominent position in the reliquary of the Holy Thorn. There will also be a small addition of gold…’ It was the famous Dom Guéranger who re-established the former Benedictine priory at Solesmes in 1832.
