Description
POULBOT, Francisque (1879–1946) A series of nine (9) colour lithographs, numbered in pencil 133/400, on the theme of the First World War, offering a satire of military propaganda in the format of a comic strip. It depicts young adults and children in various scenarios, for example playing at war, pretending to be tended to by nurses, or, on a darker note, depicting child soldiers (the drawing ironically highlights the fact that the character’s hands are hidden and he does not have to carry a weapon) and war crimes (here, a stomach ache preventing the conflict). We are enclosing: ‘La Neige’ / Panel taken from ‘Recréations de Bébé’ by André and Jules MAUREL. Overall in good condition, with some dust, slight browning and foxing in places.
